On January 17, 2024, Dr. Mubenga, PhD, PE and Assistant Professor at the University of Toledo in the College of Engineering Technology was interviewed by Channel 13 News about why Electronic Vehicles lose driving range in freezing temperatures.  She explained that the chemicals in the batteries called electrolytes can freeze, blocking the transmission of energy to the vehicle. Some of the stored energy has to be used to warm the battery. Watch the interview below:
